Future Kings presents a world at war over fresh water, and the story of a young soldier trying to find his estranged brother, and bring him home. The Future Kings short film is being developed into a feature.

Made in Michigan, Winter is a poem made visual, about the trials and triumphs of the most difficult seasons. Across Michigan’s coasts, this film reveals portraits of sportsman charging the storm, and the weary recharging after their own.

Find Me Up North is a love letter to growing up in Northern Michigan, the assembly of 80 scenes and two years of work. This short film was the launch of Practical’s independent film efforts.
Our growing team and filmmaking network want to make films where we’re at, in Michigan. A creative richness abides in the Great Lakes— a rhythm to the seasons we thrive on. We don’t exclusively work in Michigan, but we cherish being able to develop and write stories here. Practical is fully pursuing the potential of producing those stories here as well.
After all, the variety of landscapes and resources lend themselves to film production. While we work on one film at a time, the larger effort is to continue to build a filmmaking infrastructure in Michigan that can sustainably support feature films and the artists behind them.
